Connect: Community Outreach

Be a part of the larger Westfield and Union county community by supporting local food ministries, serving with a ministry partner, or providing support for those among us in need.

Gardening Our church is blessed with beautiful gardens that offer spaces for the community to eat, walk, reflect, and pray. Our gardens grow healthy food for local families in need. There are twelve Justice Gardens that highlight humanitarian and environmental issues and ways we can take action. We are always looking for helping hands to get involved!

Westfield Food Pantries Westfield Food Pantry is a service project performed by a group of cooperating churches and synagogues in Westfield to help put together shopping carts of food for needy families in Union County.

Free Meals Program Prior to the pandemic and subsequent social interaction restrictions, the Free Meal Program of FUMC served a free dinner the 2nd Monday night each month at the Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield. The dinner was served to approximately 100 guests by our dedicated FUMC team of approximately 20 volunteers who have been faithful to the program for about 20 years. We hope to continue the serving the Plainfield community, although at this time, Covenant UMC has no plans for when the program will be reinstituted.

Little Free Libraries What is a little free library you ask? It’s really about as simple as the name suggests. It is a “take a book, return a book,” free book exchange. While these libraries come in various shapes and sizes, most are small wooden boxes which are filled with books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Each little free library is unique and cultivated by the stewards who create it, as well as the community in which FUMC-Westfield’s Little Free Libraries Project: What is a little free library you ask? It’s really about as simple as the name suggests. It is a “take a book, return a book,” free book exchange. While these libraries come in various shapes and sizes, most are small wooden boxes which are filled with books.

Social Justice Team The social justice team works together to build awareness about injustice in our community and beyond. We identify ways to engage our congregation in conversation and action.
