Youth and Adult Scholarships

Since 1974, FUMC has awarded more than 200 scholarships to deserving members of the church family pursuing the dream of a higher education.

United Methodist Scholarships: 

Instituted by the Education Ministry to fund deserving students as they seek higher education.

 

Philip and Jane Dietterich Scholarship: 

Established in 1994 by the Oratorio Singers to honor and perpetuate the work of the Dietterichs, this scholarship is to aid others in their education or training in formal or informal settings.  The recipients share their study with the Worship, Music and Arts Ministry.

 

Doris and Lucille Curtis Scholarship: 

Established at the close of 1998, this scholarship, awarded to honor the memory of Beverly Pogue’s grandmother and aunt, is meant to encourage and assist students in their pursuit of either a degree in the sciences or in becoming a teacher/educator.

 

Charles S. and Lou Willie Smith Scholarship

The Charles S. Smith Scholarship, established in 1962, became the Charles S. and Lou Willie Smith Scholarship in 1991.  It is an award made to outstanding persons who by example model Christian discipleship.

 

The Elizabeth Darling Scholarship

The Elizabeth Darling Scholarship, established in 1955 to honor this church’s longtime financial secretary is awarded to a student pursuing a professional ministry career.

 

The Robert M. Farley Scholarship:

    Established in 1993, the Robert Farley Scholarship provides financial encouragement to a student who has interest and ability in mathematics and/or        who shares concerns about and intends to labor for the well being of disadvantaged persons in society.
