NEW OFFERING ENVELOPES Please pick up your offering envelopes for 2013 in the hallway outside the church office.

OUR NEXT TIME to host Free Meals will be December 10, 2012. Although we have a faithful crew, we welcome anyone who would like to come and join us! If you are interested, talk to Dick or Margaret Campbell.

THE UMW continues to collect recipes for a new church cookbook. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION has been extended until DECEMBER 16! Forms are outside the church office.

CHRISTMAS WITH OUR SOLDIERS: Let’s all make a difference by writing a message on a Christmas card for our soldiers in Afghanistan. A table is setup in the narthex with plenty of cards, yours for the taking. You may return your signed cards to the narthex in the box that says "Ready for Shipping" DEADLINE FOR CARDS is TODAY!

THE GIVING TREE IS UP! Our annual gift giving tree has been set up in the Narthex. The snowflake ornaments contain the name, age and gift request for the patients of the Plainfield Health Center. Please select a snowflake, purchase a gift and return it wrapped with the snowflake attached by Sunday December 16.

THE GREATER NEW JERSEY Annual Conference of United Methodists (GNJAC) is requesting blankets, scarves, hats, gloves and mittens for NJ victims of Hurricane Sandy. Everyone is encouraged to help. There will be boxes set up next to the tree in the Narthex for donations.

WEDNESDAY EVENING Advent Church Family Potluck and Programs. Our church family will gather weekly on Wednesday evenings for a potluck dinner and Advent program. This year we explore the traditions of Christmas. Dinner is at 6:30; program starts at 7:15 PM. Please bring a dish to serve 6 people. All ages are welcome! The table below outlines what you can share for our meal:

December 12 A—G: Salad; H—O: Desert/Bread; P—Z: Main Dish

December 19 A—G: Dessert/Bread; H—O: Main Dish; P—Z: Salad

Programs are:  12/12: Christmas Food Traditions; 12/19:  Christmas Musical Traditions.

FAMILY CAREGIVER GROUP: A small group of persons with caregiving responsibilities continues to meet twice monthly at FUMC on Sunday afternoons from 3 to 4:30. We gather with a cup of tea to share experiences, exchange information, and to care for and encourage each other. Meeting dates through January 2013 are: December 9th and 23rd, and January 6th and 20th. This group is open to the FUMC fellowship. If interested, you are invited to join us on any or all of these dates. For additional information contact Sue Bottoff
SANTA CLAUS BREAKFAST — December 15 Join us for our annual Santa Claus breakfast on Saturday, December 15th from 10 a.m. until 12 noon in the Social Hall. There will be a light breakfast, crafts, music, stories and a visit with a very special guest fit for the season!! The cost is $6.00 per person. Please sign up by December 10th outside the church office. Don't forget to bring your camera!

HEIFER PROJECT INTERNATIONAL FAIR — December 16 & 23. Can't think of ideas for Christmas presents? Everybody have everything they need? If that's the case, think about buying an animal from Heifer Project International.Share the gift of hope for hungry families across the globe.  Bonny Chopey will be there to help you gift animals on December 16 fand 23 before and after worship, outside the church office.

ANNUAL COOKIE WALK— December 23. Our Annual Cookie Walk will take place on Sunday, December 23rd in the Fellowship Room. Shoppers will purchase a container and have the opportunity to fill it with home baked goodies. This is a great way to get a variety of cookies for the holiday! If you would like to donate cookies,speak to Sue Gandy or Mary-Lou Jackson.  Proceeds will benefit the Free Meals Program at Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield.

All adults are invited to join us on Sunday morning at 9am for an Advent Bible Study. We are using the book, "Meeting the Messiah" by Kara Lassen Oliver. The holiday season is brighter in our church when all of us contribute to the cost of plants, garlands and wreaths. Please return this form to the church office with money, in any amount that you wish to give. Make checks payable to FUMC Flower Fund. Deadline for the names of donors in the bulletin is December 16, 2012
