The forty days of Lent are gifts for the people of God. They offer possibilities of a journey toward deeper relationships with God, human beings and other living creatures. The scriptures, Sunday sermon and visual signs and symbols point toward gifts available to each person. Our new Lenten banner features some of these symbols. They may not be familiar to everyone, so there will be a short explanation of each symbol in the Bulletin each Sunday of Lent.

Week Four – THE ANCHOR CROSS: Ephesians 2: 1-10 announces God’s special gift, "For by grace you have been saved through faith…this is the gift of God." Grace is symbolized by the anchor cross, a variation of the familiar straight-armed cross, and is a sign of saving in the sea of life.
