Non-perishable food donations are needed for the Westfield Food Pantry. Place your items in the bin in the Lobby.

New Offering envelopes. Please pick up your offering envelopes for 2015 in the hallway outside the church office.

Ash Wednesday Soup Supper. Join others in our FUMC family for a simple soup supper on Ash Wednesday (February 18th). Please bring soup, salad or bread to share. We will gather for supper at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Room.The Ash Wednesday worship service will follow at 7:30 PM in the Sanctuary.

RISE, our annual youth service project in upstate New York, will be held on July 5th to July 11th this year. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Gilim at youth@fumcwestfield.org

Altar Flowers. The 2015 Flower Chart is posted on the wall outside the church office You are invited to sponsor flower arrangements ($40 per week) for our worship services each Sunday morning. Please sign up, then take an envelope for your payment and to indicate what reading you’d like to appear in the bulletin. Thank you for providing these beautiful tributes for our services. You may take the flowers home, or leave them to be delivered to our homebound members

Our next time to host Free Meals will be February 9, 2015. We prepare meals the 2nd Monday of each month September thru June. Although we have a faithful crew, we welcome anyone who would like to come and join us! If you are interested, talk to Dick or Margaret Campbell.

Midday Recital Series. Join us on Wednesday, February 11th at 12:00 NOON in the Sanctuary for a 4-hand piano concert featuring Ron Thayer and Edwin Lopez. The concert will feature the works of Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy and George Gershwin.Proceeds from the free-will offering will go to restore our Aeolian-Skinner organ back to its full potential. This series was designed to be a musical lunch break for church goers and non-church goers alike, so please bring lunch (water provided) and a friend!

Youth Group will be going Monster Mini-Golfing on Friday, February 13th. All students in 6th to 12th grade are open to attend. Friends are also welcome. To RSVP, please let Gilim know by February 8th at latest.

Soup Ministry. We are starting a Soup Ministry at the church! Our group will meet once a month on a Saturday morning to make soup to put in the freezer - it will then be taken to church members who are shut-ins or having a rough time. We may also sell the soup as a fundraiser. Our first soup-making session will be Saturday, February 14th from 9 AM – 11 AM in the Social Hall kitchen. If you are interested in helping with this ministry please contact Barbara Richey at bbrichey1@mac.com.

The Noontimers will meet on February 20, 2015 in the Fellowship Room. Our program will be "Show and Tell." Bring one of your treasures and share the story of why it holds such a special place in your heart. Connie Palmer will facilitate the discussion. We ask that you bring a sandwich and we provide coffee and tea and ice water. The meetings run from 12 PM till 2 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend!

"Books and Beyond" FUMC Book Discussion Group takes a new turn for the upcoming four months.Selections will be books recently made into movies.Participants can decide--read the book, view the movie, or experience both.The first meeting is Sunday, February 22nd at the home of Susan and Dan Bottorff, 514 Grove St., Westfield, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.We kick off with "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn; movie starring Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris.

Gardening Workshop – February 28. Did you enjoy FUMC’s plants and flowers last summer?Our gardens were designed and developed by thoroughly unprofessional volunteers, but much was learned by practicing on the church’s property.On Saturday February 28th from 9 AM—12 noon, Dan Bottorff will demonstrate practical gardening steps and inspire you to turn your garden dreams into deeds.Register for the workshop with Dan (908-967-9144) or call the Church Office 908-233-4211. A $5.00 (cash) registration fee will cover costs of practice materials and seeds which you can take home.

The Square Dance has been rescheduled for February 28th! Join us for a Square Dance on February 28, 2015 from 6:30-8:30 PM in the Social Hall. NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! Bring the entire family out for an evening of fun & fellowship! No admission charge, but a free will offering will be accepted at the door. We will have a live caller—FUMC’s own Dale Flowers! Each child age 4-8 should bring a grown-up to dance with.

Adult Continuing Education

The 9:00 am parables class continues through February 15th. We are looking at "modern parables," beginning first by defining what a parable is and whether there are modern examples of the genre. We will also be studying the parables of Jesus to define for ourselves what makes the unique to the Christian tradition. Join us any Sunday in room 105 for an interactive discussion.
