ADVENT BIBLE STUDY - All adults are invited to join us on Sunday morning at 9am for an Advent Bible Study. We will be using the book, "Meeting the Messiah" by Kara Lassen Oliver. This 6 week study is from The Upper Room and focuses on the main characters in the Advent story; the Holy Spirit, John the Baptist, Mary, The Shepherds, Jesus and the Magi. Each week include a set of daily readings and reflections, and uses the spiritual practice of lectio divina as a way of experiencing the scripture in a deeper way. The class will be meeting in Room 208 beginning on Sunday, November 18th and continuing through Christmas. We hope that you will join us on this journey during Advent. THE UMW is now collecting recipes for a new church cookbook. We are looking for your favorite recipes to assemble into a cookbooka fund raiser for the UMW. There are forms available in the waiting area outside the church office and a box to submit your recipes. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION is TODAY (November 18) You may email recipes in a similar format to Teresa Dresely at kevindresely@comcast.net.

THE BOOK GROUP will next meet on TODAY (November 18) from 7-8:30 PM in the Fellowship Room. The book for discussion is "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Coast Trail" by Cheryl Strayed. Sue Bottorff will be the discussion facilitator. All are invited to join us.

CHRISTMAS WITH OUR SOLDIERS: Let’s all make a difference by writing a message on a Christmas card for our soldiers in Afghanistan. A table is setup in the narthex with plenty of cards, yours for the taking. You may return your signed cards to the narthex in the box that says "Ready for Shipping"

MONTHLY MEN"S BREAKFAST— All men are invited to gather at the Westfield Diner at 8 AM on the first Saturday of every month for a time of fellowship. (Our next Saturday is December 1!) Contact Kevin Dresely at ddresely@comcast.net for more information. No reservations required!

HANGING OF THE GREENS Comes Early This Year! All are invited on Saturday, December 1st at 10 AM to help decorate the Sanctuary and other areas of FUMC in preparation for the Advent Season. What a great way to usher in this festive time of year! It would be helpful if you would let Gloria Brodersen or David Mertz know if you can help. We need you!

SILK SCARF DYEING WORKSHOP—You are invited to a scarf dying workshop on December 1, 2012 from 10 AM - 3 PM in the social hall. No experience is required (Just wear old clothes). It can take less than an hour to make a couple of beautiful accessories to give as gifts or to treat yourself! Ages 2nd grade and up can come with adult supervision. Prices range from $6 to $15 for each white, silk scarf, just add the colors of your choice. This workshop will benefit the missions of: Wesley Hall School for Early Childhood, FUMC’s United Methodist Women and Imagine: A Center for Coping with Loss.

CALLING ALL SCRAPBOOKERS!! Our next crop will be held on Saturday, December 8 from 9am-1pm in the Fellowship Room. We plan to meet monthly on the second Saturday. Each month, Sarah Ashworth will present on a topic and be available to help those new to scrapbooking. December's topic is: "Downloading, Editing, and Printing Photos." Please bring your laptop and camera for personal assistance. Experienced scrapbookers are encouraged to join us. Sanctuary Holiday Decorations

We all look forward to the Holiday Season when we can worship and enjoy the special beauty of our decorated Sanctuary. We especially enjoy the traditional and colorful poinsettias in the altar area, which will be distributed to our shut-ins after Christmas. If you would like the opportunity to honor or remember a loved one with the purchase of altar decorations and poinsettias, please complete the form below. Plans are to list the names of those being honored or remembered in the Christmas Eve bulletin.

Holiday Decorations

The holiday season is brighter in our church when all of us contribute to the cost of plants, garlands and wreaths. Please return this form to the church office with money, in any amount that you wish to give. Make checks payable to FUMC Flower Fund. Deadline for the names of donors in the bulletin is December 16, 2012
