Vacation Bible School is on!  July 15 to 18 (9:30-11:30) with a closing program and community fun fair on Sunday 7/21. Registration will begin in March, but before that can happen, we need to line up our staff. Volunteers are needed for various tasks before, during and after the VBS week. The format of the week has been adjusted as a result of the VBS brainstorming task force to better meet the needs of our congregational community (newly patterned activity schedule, shorter program days, more fellowship opportunities, add-on mission activities). Please think about your gifts and talents; if you have a calling to work with Vacation Bible School, we have a job you can do!

Our next time to host Free Meals will be March 11, 2013. We prepare meals the second Monday of each month September thru June.  I you are interested, talk to Dick or Margaret Campbell.

The next Book Club meeting is Sunday, March 17 at 7 pm in the Fellowship Room. We will discuss Thinking in Pictures My Life with Autism by Temple Grandin. All are invited to read the book and join us!

We would like to feature a collection of crosses in the display cabinet for the Easter season. If you would be willing to lend a cross for the display, please contact Sarah Ashworth at and bring your cross to church by Sunday, March 17.

Sign up for Altar flowers outside the church office! . You are invited to sponsor flower arrangements for our worship services each Sunday at a cost of $40 per week. Please sign up, then take an envelope for your payment and to indicate the reading that will appear in the bulletin.

The Family Caregiver's Group continues to meet twice monthly at FUMC on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:30. We gather to share experiences, exchange information and to care for and encourage each other. Meeting dates are March 3 and 24. The group is small and stable and will be interested in hearing about your experience of caregiving. Facilitators are Sue Bottorff and Su Iliff.

Adult Continuing Education

A Lenten study focused on Serving from the Heart – Finding Your Gifts and Talents for Service continues on Sunday mornings at 9:00 – 9:50 AM (in the Fellowship Room) and again from 11:30 AM—12:30 PM (in room 105). This study helps participants discover their own spiritual gifts and talents and find ways to channel these gifts into an enhanced capacity to serve God and neighbor. Joann Huber is the leader for both classes. You may contact her at for more information.

March is Women’s History Month. Meet this inspiring Christian woman from our time: Bethany Hamilton. She is a Hawaiian surfer who made headlines when she lost her arm in a shark attack in 2003 at only 13 years old. Through determination and a strong faith in God, she survived and returned to surfing a month later where she continued to excel and turned pro in 2007. Her foundation, Friends of Bethany, supports shark attack survivors and amputees worldwide. If you would like to learn more about her, she has written several inspirational books, including her autobiography, Soul Surfer.
