Church wide worship survey.  The Worship, Music and Arts committee is conducting a survey to learn how we can make worship as meaningful as possible.  All are encouraged to participate.  You may complete it online: 

Paper forms available outside of the church office or we will have computers available in the Fellowship Room after worship TODAY and on September 29th for you to complete it. 
Young Adult Gathering. Join other young adults (19 – 30ish) TODAY from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM for lunch and conversation about how FUMC can better help young adults address theological, spiritual, and social concerns. Singles, couples, and families are welcomed.  Lunch will be provided. Revs. Mertz and Iliff will facilitate this brainstorming session.  Please join us in the Social Hall!

Don’t forget to pick up your Mums today! We have extra mums for anyone who did not have a chance to order them ($7).

The Book Group will meet on TONIGHT from 7-8:30 PM in the Fellowship Room. The book for discussion is "Proof of Heaven" by Eben Alexander. All are invited to join us.

Non-perishable food donations are needed for the Westfield Food Pantry. Place your items in the bin in the Lobby.

Come with us to see "Moses" at the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, PA on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Lunch and transportation will be part of the package event. Tickets will be on sale during Fellowship Time (11 AM in the Fellowship Room) beginning NEXT SUNDAY, September 29. Please contact Vanessa Zimmerman for more information.

Craft/Social Group, Wednesdays in September. Please join us in the Fellowship Room on Wednesdays in September from 1—3 PM. Bring your knitting, sewing and crafts or just join us for social time! We also have some fun projects that you can work on. Hope to see you whenever you can make it!

Join us to GET LOST, in a corn maze, that is! On Saturday, September 28, meet at the church at 2pm to go to Stony Hill Farms in Chester to their 10-acre corn maze. They also have apple and pumpkin picking, hayrides, a kid's playground, apple cider and apple cider donuts! Prices are: ages 10+: $12.99, ages 3-9: $10.98, and 2 years and under: free. New Member Class: Are you interested in exploring membership at FUMC Westfield, or, if already a member, in brushing up on your Methodism? If so, you are invited to join the upcoming class that will be lead by Rev. Mertz. We will meet together Sunday, October 6 from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Fellowship Room. All are welcome.... even if you weren’t able to respond ahead of time or are not sure if you want to join right now, you are still most welcome to participate.

Our next time to host Free Meals will be October 14, 2013. We prepare meals the second Monday of each month September thru June. Although we have a faithful crew, we welcome anyone who would like to come and join us! If you are interested, talk to Dick or Margaret Campbell.

Wanted by the UMW. The Elisabeth Circle wants your "attic treasures" - forgotten or just no longer wanted or needed, new and used items. We have established an E-bay account and will be listing your donated treasures as a fund raising event for the Church.  If you have items to donate, please contact Janet at

The Noontimers will next meet on October 18 in the Fellowship Room. Our guest speaker will be Dale Flowers who will present "Techniques and Tips for Arranging Flowers." We ask that you bring a sandwich and we provide coffee and tea and ice water. The meetings run from 12 PM till 2 PM.

Mark your calendars! UMW Craft and Rummage Sale—Saturday, October 19th from 10 AM—2 PM in the Fellowship Room and Social Hall. Lunch and Bake Sale items will also be available!

Enjoy the autumn season with a Fall Foliage Train Ride on Sunday, October 20. Meet at the church at 1:30pm to go to the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad in New Hope, PA. Our Annual Church Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. All members are encouraged to attend! Committee/Ministry leaders are asked to submit their committee’s annual report to the church office by Tuesday, October 1st.

The Family Caregiver's Group continues to meet twice monthly at FUMC on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:30. We gather to share experiences, exchange information and to care for and encourage each other. Upcoming meeting dates: September 22, October 6 and 27. Facilitator is Sue Bottorff.

Adult Education Opportunity

Adult education opportunities continue this fall. A six-week series on Human Sexuality from a Wesleyan Perspective begins on September 29th and will continue through November 3rd. The class will meet from 9:00 – 9:50 AM in Room 105. Suitable for adults and older teens, the sessions are designed to be thought-provoking and to generate discussion about issues surrounding human sexuality and how these issues impact individuals, a church family, the institutional church, and our society. Revs. Susan Iliff and Dan Bottorff will lead this series.

In support of these discussions, a 98 minute film "For the Bible Tells Me So" will be shown on Sunday, September 29 from 3:30 –5:15 PM (room 105) and on Friday, October 4 from 7-8:30 PM (Fellowship Room). Child care arrangements for the film will be arranged upon request.
