An Advent Devotional booklet will be available for purchase TODAY after worship. There will be a $5.00 donation and all profits will go to our apportionments. We want to thank the church family for their participation in the booklet. Thank you. Teresa Dresely and Connie Palmer.

The holidays are upon us and the Christmas Giving Tree is bursting with need!Our gifts this year will help provide a Merry Christmas to many homeless families of Union County through the program at St Joseph’s Church and the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless. Clothing is what is being asked for this year, but if anyone would like to add a small toy with their gift, we know it will be greatly appreciated. As you are able, please select an ornament, purchase a gift and return it unwrapped in a gift bag with the ornament by Sunday, December 14th. Please contact Maria Vitale at, any questions.

New Offering envelopes. Please pick up your offering envelopes for 2015 in the hallway outside the church office.

Midday Organ Recital Series. Our next concerts are Wednesday, December 3 and 17! This series was designed to be a musical lunch break for church goers and non-church goers alike, so please bring lunch and a friend! Proceeds from the free-will offering will go to the organ restoration fund.

RISE 2015: RISE, our annual youth service project in upstate New York, has started accepting applications for students in 9th grade up and adult volunteers for Summer 2015. Committing to attending RISE next year requires us to send registration information by the end of November. If you are interested in attending and/or volunteering, please contact Gilim Jung at by November 30th.

Monthly Men’s Breakfast— All men are invited to gather at the Westfield Diner on Saturday, December 6 at 8 AM or a time of fellowship. Contact Kevin Dresely at for more information. No reservations required!

FUMC Celebrates Human Rights—The United Nations proclaimed December 10 as Human Rights Day in 1950, to bring to the attention ‘of the peoples of the world’ the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations.In celebration, over the next 12 months FUMC will highlight our work to advocate for human rights.For additional information, please contact Deborah Enix-Ross.

Christmas with our soldiers: Let’s all make a difference by writing a message on a Christmas card for our soldiers in the Middle East. A table will be setup in the narthex with plenty of cards, yours for the taking. You may return your signed cards to the narthex in the box that says "Ready for Shipping." Please address envelope to "Any Soldier." Boxes filled with cards will be shipped after December 14th.

Santa Claus Breakfast—December 13. Join us for our annual Santa Claus breakfast on Saturday, December 13th from 10 a.m. until 12 noon in the Fellowship Room. There will be a light breakfast, crafts, music, stories and a visit with a very special guest fit for the season!! The cost is $6.00 per person. Everyone is invited to Wesley Hall’s First Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. We hope you can join us!

The Noontimers will meet on Friday, December 19 in the Fellowship Room. We will be celebrating Christmas with a "White Elephant Gift" exchange. We ask that you bring a sandwich and we provide coffee and tea and ice water. The meetings run from 12 PM till 2 PM.

Annual Cookie Walk—December 21. Our Annual Cookie Walk will take place on Sunday, December 21st in the Fellowship Room. Shoppers will purchase a container and have the opportunity to fill it with home-baked goodies. This is a great way to get a variety of cookies for the holiday! If you would like to donate cookies, contact Sue Gandy or Mary-Lou Jackson. Proceeds will benefit the Shared Ministry.

Advent - Adult Education Study

"The Messiah: An Advent Adult Study"Written by world-renowned Old Testament scholar Walter Brueggemann, this four-session adult study takes a critical look at the four royal titles used in Isaiah 9:2-7: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.We will explore how the people understood those titles during Jesus' time and discuss how Jesus did or did not fulfill the titles. We will also reflect on how Christians interpret Jesus as representing that title.

The 4 week study will begin on November 30th and run through December 21st. The group will meet on Sundays from 9:00 – 9:50 AM in Room 105. Sessions will be led by Su Iliff, Dan Bottorff, and Connie Palmer. Questions? Check with Su Iliff

GrooveBarbers Family-Friendly Holiday Show

Join us on Sunday afternoon, December 14th at 3 PM in the Social Hall for a special family-friendly, Holiday Music Extravaganza featuring the zany a cappella group, the GrooveBarbers, led by the king of a capella, Sean Altman himself! Online admission prices are $18 for adults, $12 for teens (ages 13-19) and children age 12 and under are free. Go to to purchase your tickets. Advent Spiritual Walks

Please join us on December 3, 10 and 17 for a labyrinth walk as we explore the meaning of the Advent season.The labyrinth will be available from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the church Social Hall.It takes about 20 minutes for a self-guided, meditative walk.

As we enter Advent, and look ahead towards Christmas, a labyrinth journey is one way to spend some quiet time during this normally hectic season.It can be a time to consider what Christmas means to you today. Each week we will be exploring different aspects of the season:

Holiday Decorations

The holiday season is brighter in our church when all of us contribute to the cost of plants, garlands and wreaths. Please return this form to the church office with money, in any amount that you wish to give. Make checks payable to FUMC Flower Fund. Deadline for the names of donors in the bulletin is December 14, 2014.
