Don’t forget to pick up your Thanksgiving pies!

Christmas with our soldiers: Let’s all make a difference by writing a message on a Christmas card for our soldiers in Afghanistan. A table is setup in the narthex with plenty of cards, yours for the taking. You may return your signed cards to the narthex in the box that says "Ready for Shipping." Boxes filled with cards will be shipped after December 8th.

FUMC Christmas Giving Tree. The holidays are upon us and the Christmas Giving Tree is bursting with need! The Plainfield Health Center has asked for our generosity again this year. There are 72 patients, men women and children that are hoping for some happiness this holiday season. The tree set up in the Narthex is decorated with white and blue ornaments with the name, age and gift suggestion of a patient. As you are able, please select and ornament, purchase a gift and return it wrapped with the ornament by Sunday, December 8, 2013.  We are very grateful that the Scotch Plains UMC is able to help us again this year.  Ornaments have been given to them as well.  Please contact Maria Vitale with any questions.

Calling all writers! A writing group is in the planning stages and is looking for members. All genres and levels of ability are welcome. If you are interested, please contact Mark Sutton (suttonwriter@yahoo.com). Meeting day and time will be set based on everyone’s schedules.

What happens when you listen to the sermon? A few weeks ago, Rev Mertz talked about Christian sympathy cards that he wished he could send.... And I felt God calling me, tugging at me. What if we made those cards that represented our Christian values as a mission project? If you are interested in art, photography, writing, quietly sharing your faith and the Bible this ministry is for you. Please contact Stina Nanavati at happystina@aol.com

TODAY! Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Service. All are welcome to the Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 5 PM at Temple Emanu-El, 756 East Broad Street, Westfield. Please bring a canned food item to donate to the Westfield Food Pantry.

There are still a few spots left to see "Moses" at the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, PA on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Lunch and transportation will be part of the package event. Please contact Vanessa Zimmerman for more information vanessaz@verizon.net.

The Book Group will next meet on December 1 from 7-8:30 PM in the Fellowship Room. The book for discussion is "The Things They Carried" by Tim O’Brien. Dan Bottorff will be the discussion facilitator. All are invited to join us.

Monthly Men’s Breakfast— All men are invited to gather at the Westfield Diner at 8 AM on the first Saturday of every month for a time of fellowship. (Our next Saturday is December 7, 2013!) Contact Kevin Dresely at ddresely@comcast.net for more information. No reservations required!

We need your help! FUMC is hosting a Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 7 from 1-4 pm in the Fellowship Room. We encourage you to attend as this is a great outreach to the community but it's also a time to relax and fellowship with one another. Entertainment will also be provided for the kids. We will be in need of bakers to bring holiday goodies and treats to share. To sign up or for more information, please contact Sarah Ashworth at sarahashworth14@gmail.com or Mark Sutton at suttonwriter@yahoo.com, or see us after church in the Narthex.

Our next time to host Free Meals will be Monday, December 9, 2013. If you are interested, talk to Dick or Margaret Campbell (732-388-1814).
