Church School ending for Summer. May 18th marks the official last day of Sunday morning classes for our pre-school and primary-school aged Christian Education Classes until we resume in September with Rally Day on September 7th. Intermediate & High School Class will have a wrap-up celebration on June 1st. Please take time on Sunday to say thank you to the teachers for all of the love and guidance they have given to the children throughout the year. PreK-Kindergarten class teachers: Cheryl Klimek, Solange Sandel and Danielle Rose. Elementary class cycle teachers: Carolyn Culhane, Vincent Culhane, Patti Merkle, Ron Murad, Stina Nanavati, Connie Palmer, Kirsten Pantalena and Diane Silvester. Perennial Flowers, dug from FUMC flower beds, are available after church for a suggested donation of $3 to $8 each. them along the sidewalk to our parking area.

Non-perishable food donations are needed for the Westfield Food Pantry. Place your items in the bin in the Lobby.

Summer help needed at the Food Pantry! Due to summer vacation schedules, we need help taking orders and bagging groceries at the Westfield Food Pantry (located at Holy Trinity Church) on the following dates: July 1, 15, 29, August 5, 19, September 2. If you can help one or more of these dates, please contact Joann Huber at huberkj@aol.com. No previous experience necessary; training is available!

Flower Ministry Needs Volunteers! Our flower ministry needs two individuals who can help out on the third or fourth Sunday of each month.This ministry involves subdividing our beautiful floral arrangements following Sunday morning worship.The floral arrangements are typically divided into three or four smaller bouquets which can then be delivered to folks in our church family (shut-ins, those who are in whether at home or in hospital/rehab.We also need folks who are willing to help deliver the flowers on Sunday.To volunteer or to ask questions, contact Su Iliff.

Snacks with Jesus! That's what one of our younger members calls our fellowship/coffee time! Janet Poland is still heading up our Snacks With Jesus and would like some help with this important ministry. There are three ways to help. You can:

1. provide food (bring in food labeled "Coffee time" between Friday and Sunday at 9 a.m.), 2. set up and serve (10:30 to 11:30) or 3. clean up (11:45). See the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Room or email Stina Nanavati at happystina@aol.com to volunteer!

FUMC College Scholarships - High School seniors, college students and any student continuing their education or training beyond high school may apply for one of the several scholarships awarded each year. Scholarship applications are now available in the church office and must be returned by May 25, 2014.

Vacation Bible School will take place July 21—24 with a Thursday evening program (July 24). If you haven’t registered your child yet, please email Marcee Rogers at mmrogers93@gmail.com or contact the church office 908-233-4211.

VBS Volunteers needed! To volunteer with the program either as part of the planning team or for the week of the program, contact Marcee Rogers (mmrogers93@gmail.com) for more information.

The Madrigal Singers will present their annual Spring Concert, Beauty, Truth and Rarity, TODAY at 4:00 p.m. in our Sanctuary. General admission, $15; students and seniors, $10.

Next book club meeting is tonight—May 18, at 7pm in the Fellowship Room. The book is The Light in the Ruins by Chris Bohjalian, discussion facilitated by Anita Carvalho. Looking ahead: 15 at 7pm in the Fellowship Room, The Story of a Happy Marriage by Ann Patchett facilitated by Dan Bottorff.

Family Caregivers Group. A support group for persons who provide ongoing care for an ill, elderly or disabled family member continues to meet at FUMC about twice each month from 3:00 to 4:30 on Sunday afternoons. The coming dates are May 18, June 1 and 22. Mutual support, encouragement, and caring as well as practical information areto and by those present. The group is professionally led. Calling all youth interested in participating in June’s youth led 5th Sunday Worship Service scheduled for June 29th. musical offerings, special readings and the message will be coordinated based upon the lectionary readings for that week.Outlining of the service will take place in mid-May.Preparation for the service will take place on the Sundays in June leading up to the week of the worship service. you have interest in helping to build the service by sharing your gifts, please contact Marcee Rogers (mmrogers93@gmail.com).

The Strawberry Festival is coming! Celebrate Pentecost and the coming of summer with FUMC on June 8th with a post worship luncheon capped off with a delicious strawberry dessert. This event will be a fundraiser for our scholarship fund, so while there is no cost to attend, please consider a generous offering at the door. Contact Nancy Anderson to help by providing a platter of sandwiches or a salad or a cake.

Please join in honoring The Reverend Bobbie Rambach and thanking her for her ministry as our District Superintendent. Bobbie’s tenure as DS will come to an end this July 1 as she accepts a new appointment from Bishop Schol.

Adult Continuing Education

"Reading Jesus: A Writer’s Encounter with the Gospels" is an Adult Education Class on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. in room 105. Novelist Mary Gordon, in a non-fiction work called Reading Jesus: A Writer’s Encounter with the Gospels (2009), presents the text from several recurring Gospel stories and writes a brief commentary on each from her own perspective. We will talk about one or two selections each week. Each week ‘stands alone’ so come to as many classes as you are able.
