Lunch will be served today following Church in the Social Hall sponsored by the Worship, Music and Arts Ministry. During this time, opportunities for the Lenten Season will be discussed. Come join us and learn how this coming Lenten Season can be a time of spiritual growth and renewal for all those who would like to participate. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, March 5, which is just a little over a week away.

Lenten Study Groups. This Lent several Lenten Study Groups will be formed based on the study of The Many Faces of Jesus. These intergenerational groups will take the place of Family Wednesday Night Meals held in the past during Lent. Additional information about these groups will be available at lunch following this Sunday's worship service or by calling Kevin or Teresa Dresely.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner at the Diner - join in fellowship for a pancake dinner at Vickie's Diner on March 4th. will meet in the church parking lot to walk over at 6:30pm. your name to the sign up by the church office or RSVP to Teresa Dresely or Marcee Rogers by March 2

Ash Wednesday Soup Supper. Join others in our FUMC family for a simple soup supper on Ash Wednesday (March 5th).We will gather for supper at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Room.The Ash Wednesday worship service will follow at 7:30 PM.Questions can be directed to Su Iliff.

Time of Prayer. Please join us for a time of prayer the first Sunday of each month from 9:15-9-45 in the Wesley Hall office (room 101). every month or come whenever you can - all are welcome! Our next meeting will be March 2nd.

Blood Drive. Come and donate blood on Monday, March 3 from 2—9:00 p.m. at the NJ Blood Center, 2279 South Avenue in Scotch Plains. Sign-up in the narthex for blood donations or call Randy or Cindy Howell to schedule an appointment at 908-889-6310. Walk-ins are also welcome on the 4th.

Family Caregivers Group. A support group for persons who provide ongoing care for an ill, elderly or disabled family member continues to meet at FUMC about twice each month from 3:00 to 4:30 on Sunday afternoons. coming dates can be found in the weekly bulletin. support, encouragement, and caring as well as practical information areto and by those present.. group is professionally led. Organ and Movie Night to Benefit Oratorio Singers. On Friday, February 28th, at 7:30 PM the FUMC sanctuary will become an "old tyme theatre" with Trent Johnson, Music Director of the Oratorio Singers, turning our organ into an old time "theater organ" for a showing of the 1926 silent film "Son of the Sheik," starring Rudolf Valentino. A donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children will be received at the door. Join us at 6:30 p.m. for a spaghetti dinner in the Social Hall before the concert! The cost for the dinner and the movie is $15.00. The Oratorioare sharing the proceeds of the dinner and movie with the FUMC organ fund.

Monthly Men’s Breakfast— All men are invited to gather at the Westfield Diner at 8 AM on the first Saturday of every month for a time of fellowship. (Our next Saturday is March 1, 2014.) Contact Kevin Dresely at for more information. No reservations required!

Adult Continuing Education

"Words We Live By" an Adult Class offered at 9:00 and 11:30 AM in room 105, and led by Dan Bottorff and Chuck Sheffield, will explore meaningful metaphors of our faith. This class runs through February 26. You are invited to consider sharing in this conversation of metaphors that bring us to life.

"Philippians: The Joy of Serving Christ" This thought-provoking Bible study continues in the Fellowship Room at 9 AM and is led by Joann Huber. Paul’s letter to the Philippians is a treasure chest of spiritual insights and encouragement on how to rejoice in the Lord regardless of circumstances, and how to have a meaningful relationship with Christ in a world weighed down by daily difficulties.
