New Offering envelopes. Please pick up your offering envelopes for 2014 in the hallway outside the church office.

New Altar Flower Chart is up! The 2014 Flower Chart is posted on the wall outside the church office. You are invited to sponsor flower arrangements ($40 per week) for our worship services each Sunday morning. Please sign up, then take an envelope for your payment and to indicate what reading you’d like to appear in the bulletin. Thank you for providing these beautiful tributes for our services.

Meal and a Mission Advent Dinners - December 11, and 18 from 6:30-8 pm in the Fellowship Room.Each week we will be engaging in mission activities as an outreach to the community.All ages welcome.The table below outlines what you can bring to share for our community meal. On Dec. 11, our mission focus will be support of those in service to others. We will be collecting items to make fruit and goody baskets for the local Ambulance squads. project for the evening will be making homemade cards for the soldiers overseas and others in our local community. Non-perishable food donations are needed for the Westfield Food Pantry. Place your items in the bin in the Lobby.

Christmas Cards for our soldiers—DUE TODAY: Please return your signed cards to the narthex in the box that says "Ready for Shipping." Please address envelope to "Any Soldier." Boxes filled with cards will be shipped this week.

Gifts are DUE TODAY for the FUMC Christmas Giving Tree. Please return your wrapped gift with the ornament and place under the tree.

The Hope Circle will meet on Friday, December 13 at 7:30 PM. Connie Palmer will be hosting at her home: 1720 Cooper Road, Scotch Plains The All women are welcomed to join us. For more information, please contact Connie at cqpalmer@yahoo.com.

Christmas Caroling—December 14. Everyone is invited to join us for Christmas Caroling on Saturday, December 14 at 1:00 p.m. We will bring the songs of Christmas to our homebound members. Meet in the church lobby at 12:45 PM.

Santa Claus Breakfast—December 14. Join us for our annual Santa Claus breakfast on Saturday, December 14th from 10 a.m. until 12 noon in the Fellowship Room. There will be a light breakfast, crafts, music, stories and a visit with a very special guest fit for the season!! The cost is $6.00 per person. Please sign up by December 9th outside the church office. Don't forget to bring your camera! Questions? please call the church office 908-233-4211.

Annual Cookie Walk—December 15. Our Annual Cookie Walk will take place on Sunday, December 15th in the Fellowship Room. Shoppers will purchase a container and have the opportunity to fill it with home-baked goodies. This is a great way to get a variety of cookies for the holiday! If you would like to donate cookies, contact Sue Gandy or Mary-Lou Jackson. Proceeds will benefit the Free Meals Program and FUMC’s music program.

The Noontimers will meet on Friday, December 20 in the Fellowship Room. We will be celebrating Christmas with a "White Elephant Gift" exchange. We ask that you bring a sandwich and we provide coffee and tea and ice water. The meetings run from 12 PM till 2 PM. All are welcome!

Calling all writers! A writing group is in the planning stages and is looking for members. All genres and levels of ability are welcome. If you are interested, please contact Mark Sutton (suttonwriter@yahoo.com). Meeting day and time will be set based on everyone’s schedules.

Madrigal Singers Concert. Please join us in the Sanctuary on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 4 PM when the Madrigal Singers present "Eight Centuries of Christmas."Tickets are general admission, $15 (suggested donation), $10 for students and seniors.

The Book Group will next meet on January 19 from 7-8:30 PM in the Fellowship Room. The book for discussion is "The Ultimate Gift" by Jim Stovall. Gloria Brodersen will facilitate. All are invited to join us.

Adult Education Opportunities

Join with others this Advent season in a special devotional study beginning this first Sunday of Advent. Groups will gather in room 105 on Sundays at 9:00-9:50 AM and at 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Weekly studies will feature a short video of author Barbara Cawthorne Crafton reading selections from Let Every Heart Prepare: Meditations for Advent and Christmas; the videos are complemented with music through selected hymns.

Holiday Decorations

The holiday season is brighter in our church when all of us contribute to the cost of plants, garlands and wreaths. Please return this form to the church office with money, in any amount that you wish to give. Make checks payable to FUMC Flower Fund. Deadline for the names of donors in the bulletin is December 15, 2013
