NEW OFFERING ENVELOPES. Please pick up your offering envelopes for 2013 in the hallway outside the church office.

           THE UMW continues to collect recipes for a new church cookbook. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION is DECEMBER 16. Forms are outside the church office.

THE GIVING TREE is Up! Our annual gift giving tree has been set up in the Narthex. The snowflake ornaments contain the name, age and gift request for the patients of the Plainfield Health Center. Please select a snowflake, purchase a gift and return it wrapped with the snowflake attached by DECEMBER 16.

THE GREATER NEW JERSEY Annual Conference of United Methodists (GNJAC) is requesting blankets, scarves, hats, gloves and mittens for NJ victims of Hurricane Sandy. Everyone is encouraged to help. There will be boxes set up next to the tree in the Narthex for donations.

OUR LAST WEDNESDAY Evening Advent Church Family Potluck and Program is on December 19. Dinner is at 6:30; program starts at 7:15 PM. Please bring a dish to serve 6 people. All ages are welcome! The table below outlines what you can share for our meal:  December 19 A—G: Dessert/Bread; H—O: Main Dish; P—Z: Salad   Our program will be Christmas Musical Traditions.

FAMILY CAREGIVER GROUP: A small group of persons with caregiving responsibilities continues to meet twice monthly at FUMC on Sunday afternoons from 3 to 4:30. We gather with a cup of tea to share experiences, exchange information, and to care for and encourage each other. Meeting dates through January 2013 are: December 23rd, January 6th and 20th. This group is open to the FUMC fellowship. For additional information or questions,contact Sue Bottorff.

HEIFER PROJECT International Fair—December 16 & 23. Can't think of ideas for Christmas presents? Everybody have everything they need? If that's the case, think about buying an animal from Heifer Project International.Share the gift of hope for hungry families across the globe. Bonny Chopey will be there to help you gift animals on December 16th and 23rd before and after worship in the waiting area outside the church office.

THE NOONTIMERS will next meet on December 21, 2012 in the Fellowship Room. Our program will be "Favorite Christmas Carols" led by the Noontimers. We ask that you bring a sandwich and we provide coffee and tea and ice water. The meetings run from 12 PM till 2 PM. Everyone is welcome.

ANNUAL COOKIE WALK — December 23. Our Annual Cookie Walk will take place on Sunday, December 23rd in the Fellowship Room. Shoppers will purchase a container and have the opportunity to fill it with home baked goodies.  This is a great way to get a variety of cookies for the holiday.  Proceeds will benefit the Free Meals Program at Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield.

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT, Sunday, December 23: Our children and youth are working hard on a Christmas Pageant that will be presented during worship on Sunday, December 23 at 10 AM. Please be sure to join us!

ADULT CONTINUING EDUCATION

Advent Bible Study:  All adults are invited to join us on Sunday morning at 9am for an Advent Bible Study. We are using the book, "Meeting the Messiah" by Kara Lassen Oliver. "Christianity in A Non-Christian World: Where Do We Go From Here?" led by Bob Soong. Mid-week Session for Young Adults: December 27, 2012 (time TBA, light meal provided) A three week series will run on Sunday mornings (9 – 9:50 AM) from January 6 through January 20, 2013. Holiday Decorations

The holiday season is brighter in our church when all of us contribute to the cost of plants, garlands and wreaths. Please return this form to the church office with money, in any amount that you wish to give. Make checks payable to FUMC Flower Fund. Deadline for the names of donors in the bulletin is TODAY (DECEMBER 16)!
