Support the work of the Sandy Relief Mission Teams by helping to make and serve meals as part of our Midweek Day of Mission Trip (August 21).We will travel to the host site in Highlands, NJ to deliver the donations that we have been collecting each week and prepare a meal for the Work Crews who are staying at that host site.  This is a great family mission opportunity, as there are tasks for children as well as adults.  For more information, speak to Marcee Rogers (

Craft/Social Group, Wednesdays in August and extended thru September! Please join us in the Fellowship Room on Wednesdays in August and September from 1—3 PM. Bring your knitting, sewing and crafts or just join us for social time! We also have some fun projects that you can work on. Hope to see you whenever you can make it!

Enjoy Summer Jazz from FUMC’s front lawn! Relax and enjoy the music of the Sweet Sounds Downtown Jazz Festival each Tuesday in July and August from 7-9 PM. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and your picnic dinner. Playing August 20th are the Hammers (

Monthly Men’s Breakfast— All men are invited to gather at the Westfield Diner at 8 AM on the first Saturday of every month for a time of fellowship. (Our next Saturday is September 7, 2013!) Contact Kevin Dresely at 908-232-5732 or for more information. No reservations required!

This year’s United Methodist Homes’ Walk for All Ages takes place on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 1:00 PM beginning at Francis Asbury Manor in Ocean Grove, NJ. The walk benefits the Fellowship Fund which helps The Homes to live up to its commitment that no resident is ever asked to leave because of exhausted financial resources. FUMC members, Mary-Lou Jackson and Joyce Nelson are walking this year. Please see them if you are interested in joining the walk or if you’d like to be a sponsor.

Our next time to host Free Meals will be September 9, 2013. We prepare meals the second Monday of each month September thru June. Although we have a faithful crew, we welcome anyone who would like to come and join us! If you are interested, talk to Dick or Margaret Campbell.

The Noontimers will meet on September 20 in the Fellowship Room. Our guest speaker will be Rick Stone, Director of Senior Service of Union County. We ask that you bring a sandwich and we provide coffee and tea and ice water. The meetings run from 12 PM till 2 PM. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there.

Wanted by the UMW. The Elisabeth Circle wants your "attic treasures" - forgotten or just no longer wanted or needed, new and used items like paintings, old Barbies, Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, furniture, antique dishes, collectables, etc. We have established an e-bay account and will be listing your donated treasures as a fund raising event for the have items to donate to either the e-bay fundraising project or for the upcoming yard sale please contact Janet at We can arrange pick up and/or storage for items that you would like to donate.

The Family Caregiver's Group continues to meet twice monthly at FUMC on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:30. We gather to share experiences, exchange information and to care for and encourage each other. Upcoming meeting dates: August 18, September 1and 15. Facilitator is Sue Bottorff.

Planning for next year is upon us! the Fellowship Room are idea charts for various congregational and small group activities. you want to plant a seed and watch it grow? your idea up and run with it or sign on to help with a listed activity which inspires you. dates and confirmation of activities will take place in late August in order to prepare an Activity Calendar for the next cycle.
