Welcome

We are expecting you… and warmly welcome new people at FUMC.   On Sunday mornings, you will be met by Greeters just inside the doors, who will invite you to sign in at the Welcome Kiosk.  They will be able to tell you about our childcare, give you an orientation guide to the building, and will offer to take you where you would like to go!

We are pleased that FUMC is a completely accessible building.  We offer handicapped parking right near the entryway, an elevator that accesses all 4 floors in the building, FM receivers for those who worship and may have trouble hearing, and large print bulletins for easy reading.  Our restrooms are also accessible to all.  In the sanctuary there is a specially designated area available for anyone who is wheel-chair bound.

We offer many opportunities for engaging in service in the church and in the community, and invite you to dream with us about how to be more effective in our mission.  We are most eager to share the love of Jesus Christ throughout the world and hope that you will join us!

Wesley Hall Nursery School

Wesley Hall Nursery School began as a children’s play group in a house on Rahway Avenue.  In September of 1952, about twenty children and their teacher moved into the new education wing, now Wesley Hall, in the First United Methodist Church, Westfield.  Since that time, the school has grown to an enrollment of about two-hundred children.

History

FUMC has been a part of the Westfield community since 1859 and houses the historic 1886 E. Howard Clock and Meneely Bell.  An interesting history of the clock and bell can be seen by clicking here.  Tours of the clock and bell tower can be arranged by contacting John R. Panosh through the church office. Groups of 15-20 can be accommodated. Children should be at least seven years old and adequate supervision must be provided.
